Bringing the search for wisdom to high school

The Adventure of Living Well

We all want to understand how to live well. If our understanding of what it is to live well is shallow, then our lives will more likely than not also be shallow.

Philosophy helps us live better, by asking questions that challenge us to develop a deeper and more articulate conception of what it is to live well.

It is challenging to take philosophical questions about how to live seriously. To take the questions seriously is to put our goals, our way of life, up for discussion and debate, and that is hard.

We need to learn how to engage productively with the questions we all naturally ask about how to live. Practicing philosophy with others, especially in a guided environment, is extremely helpful in this pursuit: it can help us live well.

Sadly, philosophy is not offered in most high schools. Adventures in Thinking is a non-profit whose mission is to change that fact, by providing high school students with access to instruction in philosophy.

Please explore our offerings on our website, and don’t hesitate to email us to talk about philosophy.
